SWUE, LLC. is committed to giving back to organizations that directly impact the communities we serve and benefit from.
Our company is a supporter of The Bread of Life organization, whose mission is to empower the disenfranchised through programs that assist the homeless and individuals impacted by HIV.
Attacking Homelessness
In 1993 the Bread of Life began providing services to the homeless community in the 1,200 sq.ft. Former parsonage next door to St. John's Church which was renovated to accommodate a shower, laundry, and medical clinic.
DayBreak
The $1.2 million facility was constructed in 1999 through a generous grant from the Houston Endowment and the Brown Foundation. Everyday hundreds of homeless men and women enter through DayBreak's doors seeking hope and refuge. The facility provides shower, laundry, hot meals, food distribution, case management, and limited medical services.
Knowles-Rowland Temenos Place Apartments
Currently under construction. This 43 unit, single room occupancy project will provide housing to residents taking significant steps from homelessness to self sufficiency.
Resurrection House
A 30 bed residential transitional living facility for men that focus on recovery from substances in a supportive environment.
Feeding the Hungry
Bread of Life serves over 8,000 hot, nutritious meals per month to Houston's homeless population.

In the days following Hurricane Katrina that devastated New Orleans sending hundreds of thousands of Gulf Coast residents to the Houston area, the Bread of Life responded by entering into a partnership with the Houston Area Food Bank to distribute fresh produce to affected families. Every week the Bread of Life distributes over 9 tons of food to hundreds of hungry families.
Coping with HIV
In response to the HIV/AIDS crisis and as a result of a rash of funerals caused by the virus in the early 1990's, the Bread of Life began offering HIV Testing and
Prevention services in 1993 through a partnership funded by the City of Houston's Health and Human Services department. Our first HIV Outreach team member named Stan Phil tested thousands of men and women launching the HIV Division at the Bread of Life. Today the COPE Team (Counseling, Outreach, Prevention, and Education) moves throughout the Houston area reducing HIV risk through education. The team offers HIV testing on Sundays after services through an innovative program called "Get Tested Sunday."
